Base numbers

Everyone has a core energy (base number), determined by the day of the month you were born. It is the most immediate and recognizable part of your numerological profile, and the energy you express most naturally and instinctively.

The base number is found by reducing your day of birth to a single digit between 1 and 9. If you were born on the 28th, for example, your base number is 1 (28 = 2+8 = 10 = 1+0 = 1). Because it comes from your date of birth and not your name, it is the only number in your profile that cannot change. It sits at the top of your diamond and colors everything below it: your natural strengths and challenges.

Understanding your base energy is the first step toward understanding yourself. It tells you a lot about where your strengths lie and where you can end up feeling under pressure.

Most people recognize themselves right away when they read about their base number. It is rarely new information, but it can put words to something they have always been able to sense.

Letter values in the Chaldean alphabet

In the Chaldean system, every letter carries a numerical value based on its vibration rather than its place in the alphabet. This is what sets the Chaldean system apart from other numerological traditions. The assignment is based on sound and energy and goes back thousands of years.

One detail stands out: the number 9 is not assigned to any letter. In the Chaldean tradition, 9 is considered sacred. It does not belong to any single letter, because it belongs to everything.

How your name number is calculated

Each letter in your full name is converted to its Chaldean value and added together. For example: ALEX becomes A(1) + L(3) + E(5) + X(5) = 14 = 1+4 = 5, so 14/5.

Always use your official name , the one registered with the authorities. A nickname, a name you use socially, or a title such as Junior or Dr. only counts if it appears on your official documents. It is your registered name that defines your numerological profile..

For very short names there is an extra step. A name number must always reach a value of at least 10. If the sum of the letters is below 10, your base number is added. If it still does not reach 10, the number 9 is added instead. For example: Al becomes A(1) + L(3) = 4. For a person with a base number of 2, that gives 6, still below 10. So 9 is added instead, making the name energy 13/4.

Letters with accents or diacritical marks follow their base letter. Ö and Ô carry the same value as O. Ä and  carry the same value as A. It is the base letter that determines the energy, not the accent.

If your name contains a hyphen, such as Mary-Anne, it is treated as two separate names. Mary and Anne are calculated individually, because the hyphen splits the energy. The same applies to names with an apostrophe, such as O'Connor. That also becomes two names: O and Connor, each with its own value.

The Numerological Diamond

The diamond is a central tool in numerology. It gives you a visual overview of your energies, calculated from your full name and date of birth. With 13 positions, it forms a detailed picture of who you are and how you think and act.

Each position has its own meaning, but it is the diamond as a whole that describes you most precisely. Looking at the energies one by one is not enough.

Simplified illustration of the numerological Diamond. Your Diamond will have numbers in all positions.

The diamond contains several positions, each calculated from your name and date of birth:

Base Number. The most fundamental energy in your system, determined by your date of birth. It colors everything else in the diamond.

First Name, Middle Name(s) and Last Name. Each name carries its own energy, calculated separately. Together they form your life line and shade how you express your base number.

Foundation Number. The combined energy of all your names gathered into a single number.

Heart Center. The hub of your thoughts and your communication.

Solar Plexus Center. Your deepest inner self. Your confidence, your self-worth, and your inner voice.

Spine. The drive between your heart center and your solar plexus center. It connects your thoughts and your deepest feelings and keeps both centers in motion.

Aura. The four positions in the corners of the diamond, reflecting how well protected you are from outside influences.

Pillar Number. Located outside the diamond and forms the basis for your yearly cycles.

Annual Cycles

While the diamond shows who you are, your yearly cycles show how your energies move year by year. They are calculated mainly from your base number, foundation number, and pillar number, and they follow a precise, personal rhythm.

Each period has its own character, and once you know it, it is easier to meet the year on its own terms. But a year is rarely just one thing. It can open with a creative, outgoing energy, move into a quieter phase, and end somewhere else entirely. That is how the cycles work, and it is exactly why it makes little sense to read a whole year as a single theme.

Your yearly cycles give you an overview of which energies shape each part of the year, and what they mean for you.

The history of numerology

No one knows exactly when numerology began. What we do know is that numbers have always been central to how people make sense of the world. Long before numerology had a name, the connection between numbers and their meaning was already being observed, written down, and passed on.

The ancient Sumerians noticed that the moon moved through four phases of seven days each, and from that the seven-day week was born. The Egyptians, Babylonians, Hebrews, and Hindus each developed their own ways of reading the meaning of numbers. In ancient Greece, the philosopher Pythagoras gathered some of these ideas into a thought that would hold for thousands of years: that numbers are not only quantities, but also qualities. That every number carries its own character.

The system YourNameCode is built on is older still. Chaldean numerology has its roots in the Chaldean culture thousands of years ago and is considered one of the oldest forms of numerology we know of. We work with this system because we find it the most precise. Where many other systems reduce a name to a single digit, the Chaldean tradition also gives weight to the compound numbers, the double-digit numbers that each carry their own specific meaning.

In more recent times, this form of numerology was made known by the numerologist Cheiro, and it is his method that underlies everything here. From your name and your date of birth, numerology draws a picture of who you are: your strengths, your challenges, and the patterns that recur in your life, whether you have noticed them or not.

How it works

In numerology, we see everything as energies, and every energy has its own vibration.

When your energies are in balance, they work with you. It is a kind of natural tailwind, where the things you set in motion have an easier time coming together. When your energies are out of balance, the opposite happens, and you may run into more resistance, where things are harder to make work.

This is where numerology becomes a tool. By understanding your energies, and by adjusting them through your name, you can create a balanced numeroscope, where the energies support you instead of standing in your way.

What numerology is not

Numerology does not predict the future. It does not tell you who you will meet, what job you will get, or when something will happen. It describes who you are: your strengths, your weaknesses, and the patterns that shape how you move through life.

Numerology does not make your choices for you. It gives you a clearer understanding of yourself and how your life unfolds.

Frequently asked questions

What is numerology?

Numerology is an ancient wisdom that studies the relationship between numbers and people. Based on your full name and date of birth, it maps the energies that shape your personality, your patterns, and the cycles you move through in life. It is not magic, but a structured system for understanding yourself.

Is numerology true?

That depends on what you mean by true. Numerology cannot be proven through conventional science, and it does not claim to be a science. What it offers is a precise and consistent framework for understanding yourself. Most people who engage seriously with numerology find that the readings reflect something real about who they are and how they move through life. Whether that amounts to a truth is a question only you can answer.

Does numerology work?

For many people, yes. It does not predict the future, and it does not replace sound judgment or action, but as a description of your own patterns and tendencies, it works with a consistency that is hard to dismiss. The most honest answer is that you have to try it and see. A reading based on your full name and date of birth will either ring true or it will not. Most people find that it does.

Is numerology the same as astrology?

No. Astrology is based on the position of the planets and stars at the time of your birth. Numerology works with the energy of numbers, drawn from your name and date of birth. The two systems are separate, though they share a common root in the idea that the universe works according to precise, observable patterns.

Does numerology predict the future?

No. Numerology does not predict specific events. But through your yearly cycles, you can see which energies you are moving through year by year, and when they support certain choices. Some periods are well suited to starting new projects, while others are better for slowing down and taking care of yourself.

What name should I use for a reading?

Your full name, exactly as it appears on your current official documents, including any middle names. This is the name that carries your current energies. If you have changed your name, use the name you carry today.

Can my numbers change?

Your base number never changes. It is set by your date of birth. The energies drawn from your name are tied to the name itself. If you change your name, the new name carries a different energy, and your numerological profile will change as a result.

Can I change my name to get better energies?

Yes. Because your name energies are calculated from the letters you carry, changing your name will change the energies in your diamond. Even small adjustments, like adding a middle name or changing a spelling, can noticeably shift the energies in your profile. This is exactly what Build Your Future helps you find: the name variation that creates a fully balanced diamond for you.

Will two people with the same name get the same reading?

No. Your full name, which includes first name, any middle names, and last name, is always read in combination with your date of birth. Even identical names will produce different diamonds when the date of birth is different.

What if I have a challenging number in my Diamond?

Some numbers will always be challenging. They carry energies that create resistance or recurring difficulties in a person's life. Becoming aware of your unbalanced energies does not remove the energy itself. But it can help you change how you relate to it and how you handle it.
